The art of basketwork is the process of crossing materials from plants to make a strong and usable clump. The plant materials that can be woven are skewers, rattan, bamboo, roots, bamboo, pandan, mengkuang, jute and so on. This material is usually easy to dry and soft.

Basketwork weaving motifs are proof of the richness of Indonesian tradition. The motifs appear from the art of weaving bamboo to become handicraft items. Bamboo weaving crafts will produce different patterns. All the motifs that appear depend on the shape of the bamboo weave that is made.
